Yeah we've given up on figuring out our origins For Sure, we have pet theories, but we aren't fussed about it overmuch. We've went through 5+ different 'this is totally it' theories over the years before landing on 'eh it doesn't matter, a lot of things could have gone into it, maybe several at once, would knowing change anything?'. Being concrete about origins is just a 'hmm can't relate' sort of thing. And all the fancy 'genic terms are just even more 'can't relate', we simply refuse to use any origin term officially out of spite at this point.

Yeah 2018 is about when The Discourse reached critical mass and really became inescapable if you are up to date in the community, wasnt it? That sounds about right.
